Sonlight homeschool moment

Today as we were finishing up our read aloud of The Apple and the Arrow the k-man asked me what an alphorn was. I didn't know exactly what it was but had a general idea so we logged on to and typed in alphorn. We came across many different videos showing people in Switzerland playing the alphorn. The kids loved the music and didn't want to stop listening. We even did some math by measuring out how long a 5 meter alphorn would be (abou 16 ft) on the floor in the basement. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to bring the book alive for the kids and connect it to something they could really see and hear.

  1. Love it! [smile] Great literature brings out so many other opportunities for connection. Fantastic!
