Happy (early) 3rd Birthday K-sis

We held an early birthday party for K-sis today. She had a wonderful time opening presents, especially her new princess pop-up tent from Nana Kristi and Papa Tom. Anything pink and princess is right up her alley! With her birthday so close to Christmas it was nice for her to have a chance to celebrate her special day early.

Wildcats and Grandparents

Here is our wildcat picture. Got to keep both sets of grandparents happy (Christmas is coming you know).

Daddy and the K-kids in their Wildcat outfits

My parents decided to come up and visit us for the week of Thanksgiving this year. We are glad that the Nanas were able to retire from teaching this year so they can come and play anytime they want. We have a busy week of activities planned to wear them out before we send them home.

Heading out on our walk at the prairie wetland learning center. This was supposed to be our nicest weather so we decided to walk on the first afternoon that Nana and Papa arrived.

Go BIG Red!!!!

I got up with the kids this morning so I got to dress the kids...and since the Nebraska Cornhuskers are playing the K-State Wildcats in football tonight I had to make sure my 4 lovely children were wearing the appropriate colors!

mommy and K #3 and #4 GO BIG RED!!!!
K-baby on her riding toy. She loves for K-man and K-girl to push her around and they love to do it!

Our new Christmas countdown tree that I made :) I am also working on some other scrapbooking/crafting items but can't post pictures otherwise I would ruin the suprise. I can't wait for Christmas...I'm not very good at waiting to give presents.

I supose I should go find some of the kids purple clothes to try on so Yvette doesn't return my Christmas gifts. :) I have at least 2 kids who think they are going to be K-state fans, 1 Nebraska fan, and one undecided.

We have a Walker in the house!

Our baby is walking!!!

It is hard to believe, but while Shawn was gone hunting this week with his dad and brother in South Dakota, K-baby decided to start walking. It is amazing how quickly she figured it out and I can't believe she is 10 months old (k-man was an early walker too, but the 2 middle girls took their time and didn't walk until closer to a year old). She just stands up in the middle of the floor and takes off. Here is one of our first videos.

K-baby walking

Shawn had a great trip with his dad and brother to South Dakota. They met on Thursday and then hunted pheasants for two days. They saw LOTS of pheasants and even managed to shoot a few to bring home. :) Eric's friend from the air force lives in South Dakota so they had someone to take them around and also someone to provide them with lots of wonderful food!! I heard that they had pork chops, steak and many other good meals....did I mention that the kids and I ate yummy leftovers??? I am always glad when Shawn gets a chance to go out and do something he enjoys! We missed him while he was gone and always appriciate him a little bit more once he gets back.

The kids and I stayed busy all weekend. We went to the library for a special storytime, shopping and even a shop at the park because the weather was so nice.

Trick-or-Treat

This year we travelled to Yankton, SD to meet my family for trick-or-treat...it was a short 5 hour drive for us! :) The kids enjoyed getting to play with Asher, Nana, Papa, Kenny and Staci. We were able to stay in a wonderful house that had room for ALL of us and it was just minutes from the lake and a park with a playset.

My Father's Dragon

We just finished reading aloud a set of three books this week for school. My Father's Dragon, and Elmer's Dragon and The Dragons of Blueland by Ruth Stiles Gannett. The kids ALL loved them. I would recommend that anyone with kids (especially boys) should read these three classic books. They had short chapters with lots of suspense, imagination and great pictures. We also did the lapbook from homeschoolshare.com that went with the first book My Father's Dragon. Homeschool share has lots of great hands-on resources to go with children's books. We have enjoyed quite a few of their lapbooks.
