We've been BUSY!

We would like to call a do over on December and January! We had some great highs and some hard times too. We are thankful that God has been with us every step of the way.

We started with a visit with my Grandpa Bo in the hospital on our trip down. The three big kids got to come up to come up and had a good time visiting with Papa Bo. Shawn and K-baby didn't get to come up because K-baby was sick.

Then we did Christmas at Shawn's parents and my parent's house. We had a short detour by the vet's office for a $600 cast for our dog.

On our way home we had a quick trip to Wichita to see the Cirque de Sol performance. The kids LOVED it, but we wished Papa Tom could have gone with us. Luckily, Yvette was able to come up and see the show. After the show we started back home early, hoping to visit Papa Bo before we headed home. Of course all 4 of our kids started throwing up (2 kids in Nana's car) and we ended up staying the night in a hotel.
The crew after our Cirque De Sol performance. Thanks Papa for the tickets!

We didn't get to see my grandpa on the way home because we didn't want to spread any germs. :( but I know he wasn't feeling good. Somehow all 4 kids woke up healthy the next morning and we made it home.

We made it home Monday night and spent half of Tuesday digging out from over 2 1/2 feet of snow.

On Wednesday morning I got a call from my mom that my grandfather had pasted away. I loved my grandfather dearly and will miss him until I see him in heaven again some day. His funeral was on Saturday and I enjoyed visiting with all my family and hearing about how my grandfather worked and honored God during his life.

My dad and I at my grandpa's house. I will miss spending time at the home that my grandpa built with his own hands and lived in for over 50 years, but I will cherish all the memories that I have.

Okay, so our first week back was a bust. After all the snow, unpacking, traveling to a funeral we didn't get a stitch of school done. So you may be wondering what we have been up to for the past couple of weeks.

Well, we have been....

completing lots of science experiments,

building a bathroom in the basement,

giving haircuts,

building snow forts in the backyard,

trying to swing,

playing with the neighbors on the swing set,

building a snow slide in our front yard,

doing lots of school,

taking care of Abby who broke her leg on vacation when she got hit by a truck,

ice skating at the local ice rink when it warms up,

even playing outside when it is COLD!!!
We have been experiencing weather from -15 to 32 for highs, so some days we hid out inside the house and don't leave and other days we spend hours outside playing.
We've also been to gymnastics 3 times every week, AWANAS, church, school co-op, bible study, the vet's office 2 times, shopping in Fargo, hosting a pampered chef party and who knows what else. I've also been freezer cooking the past two weekends, but I didn't get any pictures of that. Our freezers are full of wonderful meals ready to eat.

Ski Resort

So we're thinking we have the makings of a ski resort in our front yard. The kids already have a couple of sled runs going down different sides of Mt. Papon. With a few more months of snow on top I'm sure we will be attracting people from all up and down our street.

Discount lodging and food packages available for all those staying at Hotel Papon this winter. ;)

Shawn and the 3 K girls on top of the snow mountain and K-man at the bottom. The pile is actually taller than Shawn when he stands in our driveway. Crazy!
We just spent 2 weeks in KS visiting relatives and saying "Oh, 30 degrees feels so warm!" Now we are outside playing in the -10 to 10 degree weather. I'm wondering if MN moms have a certain standard for letting their kids outside? Mine were all begging to be out shoveling in -10 the morning after we got back from vacation.

Snow, snow and more snow!!!

I know a few of you have been thinking about moving up North to be closer to us so I thought I might share some pictures of our yard with you. We are REALLY thankful of our neighbors the Andersons who took care of our house (and driveway) for us while we were sunbathing in warm Kansas on vacation. ;)

We got over 2 1/2 feet of snow while we were gone for 2 weeks. I can't believe that we still have 3-4 months of snow accumulation to add on top of this pile.

The back door out our garage after Shawn shoveled enough for Abby to go out.

K-man helping dad shovel the drifting snow from the back of the house.

Abby wishing she could go play outside. There are supposed to be 2 steps out our back patio door.

Shawn clearing the back patio door with our wonderful snowblower (thanks mom and dad!!! We have gotten our $$$$ worth out of this gift!)

The big kids in the front yard. Notice how tall the snow is compared to the mailbox.

the glad the neighbor kept this cleared too!

K-girl on top of Mt. Papon. You know you have lots of snow when it's fun to sled down it.

K-man making steps in the snow so they can get from the driveway up to the front yard snow.

K-baby looking out at K-man in the front yard.
Now I'm sure everyone will be wanting to move here!
