Fall Harvest

Can you guess what I'll be doing this weekend?

Washing, peeling, cutting, dicing, baking, blending, freezing and eating.

I'm so excited with our fall harvest pick from Bluebird Gardens. Each week we get a huge box of yummy veggies and we also get to go to the farm for 8 special pick days where we can pick a large amount of veggies to preserve for winter. We've already froze and canned lots of peas, green beans, broccoli, cucumbers, corn and tomatoes.

Today we came away with:
15 gallons of tomatoes
5 gallons of rutabagas
8 gallons carrots
4 pumpkins
10 watermelons
10 cantaloupes
and a 1/2 share of frozen chickens

They had excess of the rutabagas, watermelons and cantaloupes were all free! We're going to be eating good all winter. Feel free to come and play with me tomorrow. ;)
