Kaylee turned 7 years old on Thursday, December 5th!
To celebrate we started off the day by opening her gifts after breakfast because Shawn was still home due to bad weather. We decorated cupcakes with our friends LT (who was over to play for a few days this week) and Katie (who had a 2 hour school delay). We spent the afternoon planning our next semester of co-op and sharing our beautiful cupcakes with friends. Then we spent the evening serving as Inn keepers at our churches reenactment of Christ's birth. mmm...we ate plenty of lamb packets, pistachios, dates, apricots and goat's milk.
Thank you Nana Yvette for the birthday outfit, she LOVES it!
I'm always amazed at how fast she is growing and changing each year!
She loves to cook!
The cupcake decorating crew! We were glad school was on 2 hour delay because of the cold weather so Katie could join us for some early morning fun.
We haven't made the trip down to KS since last Christmas! This will be the longest time we've gone without traveling home to visit our family, but we are so blessed that our families are willing to travel up to see us when we can't make it down south. This past month my parents were able to spend 10 days with us! They made it just in time to go to our homeschool co-op and Kolsen's speech class graduation.
K-girl got a new outfit while she was out shopping with Nana!
The boys spent quite a bit of time working on finishing the top of our deck before the snow started flying and they managed to finish it two days before we got 4 inches of snow with more on the way. They spent a lot of time working in the dark working after Shawn got off work.
Shawn, Kolsen and my dad braved the cold weather to get the job finished!
Meanwhile, the girls did lots of crafting projects in the nice, warm downstairs. We finished up a few Christmas presents and made our annual Christmas tree ornaments.

The girls also helped some with the deck during the day when it wasn't too cold. They loved it when Shawn chopped off the board ends.
The finished deck (at least all we're doing this fall). The rails and steps will be added next spring when the snow melts and the ground thaws. We are excited to start using the deck because we spend so much time in our backyard. I'm reading to start hosting backyard parties this spring. I'm so thankful for my hubby who knows how to build things and is willing to work on all the projects that I dream up. I wonder what will be on my list next summer?
