Karolyn Goes to Camp

We just dropped Karolyn off at camp for the week. I'm pretty sure I'll be a wreck all week long. She's never been any where without family for longer than a night except for a few sleepovers (which were next door). I would appreciate prayers for her and me through Thursday! She has one friend in her "cabin" that she knew from homeschooling, so that makes me feel better, but my heart already misses her so badly!
Karolyn in her "cabin" room. She is bunking with 9 other girls and a counselor.

The view of the lake from the walkway close to her cabin.
I've heard so many good things about this camp from people who attended as children, worked there  as counselors or had their children attend. I've not heard one bad thing so I'm sure she'll have a blast. She was most excited about lights out not being until 10:00 and having money to spend in the gift shop on candy and ice cream. She did so many extra chores this week to earn that money! I can't wait to see how she has bloomed and grown in her relationship with Christ when she gets home.

Over Prepared

We may have outgrown our pool, but at least the girls are safe!

NP Park and Storytime

We have some wonderful parks to play at in town and one of our favorites is NP Park right by the library.

I think Karolyn may be a bit to big for the baby swing this year.

What is my kids' favorite activity to do when we visit the park with all the fabulous equipment? Digging in the sand of course.

Happy Father's Day

To celebrate Father's Day this year Shawn had each kid choose an activity to do with him for some special one-on-one time with dad. Kolsen choose golf, Karolyn choose boating with the zip sled and the little girls both wanted trips to the ice cream store (poor Shawn). We also spent some time together at the lake trying out the zip sled and lake temperature.
Hoot, hoot, hoot, hoot Lake (That's how Kassidy likes to say it!)

They swam for quite a while in their wetsuits!

Karolyn testing out her snorkel mask.

We are all grateful for Shawn and the impact he has on our lives!

Not Quite Two Weeks

Two weeks is not quite enough time to get our fill of Nana and Papa Cook! We kept them busy the whole time and I'm sure they're enjoying their relaxing time getting ready for their RV trip.
The girls all tried the bungee trampoline at Summerfest.
We enjoyed all the normal fair food; hot dogs, cotton candy and gyros.

Kolsen's first baseball game was cancelled, but they found a dry field to scrimmage the other team on.

Nana found some time to quilt with the girls on their new Bernina sewing machine!

Kaylee showing off her new sleeping cap.

The kids got tons of candy at the parade.

The kids enjoyed finding loons in Papa's spotting scope while eating smores.

Kaylee and Kassidy both had gymnastics classes.

The kids all enjoyed playing in the RV at the campground.

Cheering on Kolsen at another baseball game.

Playing games at the RV before bedtime.

We took a quick trip over to Wahpeton to the Chahinkapa Zoo.

The kid all rode the carousel.

 Papa took us bowling.
Shawn finished with the highest score and Kaylee was either 2nd or 3rd.

 Papa and Kassidy

Whew! It was a busy, crazy two weeks and we enjoyed every minute of it! Well except for passing the stomach flu around.

Bye Nana and Papa! We'll miss you lots!

Bring on the next set of visitors!

Two Wheel DeeDee

Watch out world, Kassidy learned how to ride her bike without training wheels today!

She was pretty proud of herself! She wore soccer shin guards for safety.
She biked up and down our street all afternoon and then we loaded up and took her bike to the lake because she wanted to bike around Lake Alice like the big kids. She made it the whole way around.

What do you wear to play tennis?

Kassidy loves dresses and wears them all the time.
Even participating in sports doesn't keep her from dressing up.

Soccer in June?

Our soccer season this year was a vastly different than last year. This year they had to postpone the start of soccer for 3 weeks because there was still a couple feet of snow on the soccer fields. Even in June the weather has been on the cool side.
June 4th, the last day of soccer for the little girls. Nana and Papa were able to make it up to watch the last day. Doesn't it look warm?
The kids all had a fabulous time and enjoyed playing this year. Shawn was Kaylee's coach this year so Kassidy practiced with them each day until it was game time. Kaylee surprised both of us by being an aggressive go-getter on the soccer field. In every day life she's more of a skipper and dancer, but when she was on the field she was always right in the middle of the action.

Karolyn had a great time too and loved to play all over the field.

Kassidy snuggling up to Nana while we were watching the big kids play.

Kolsen was super excited when he found out he had his favorite coach again this year. He really learned quite a bit about playing the different positions and ball handling skills this year. We're thinking that next year we may have to finally sign him up for travelling soccer.
