Do you need a manicure?

The girls LOVE their new nail supplies and have been painting their nails a few different times each week. Thanks, Aunt Theresa for some of the new toys.

My Father's World

I love getting to spend my days learning with my kids each day. The My Father's World curriculum is amazing and such a wonderful fit for our family. This year I'm doing the kindergarten curriculum with Kassidy (and Kaylee loves doing all the crafts and listening to all the books too) and the kids are all participating in the MFW Rome to the Reformation. I love, love, love that we can do all this learning together as a family and the kids all have amazing incites to share with each other.

Kassidy learned about turtles last week and made a yummy turtle snack.

We just finished learning about the Romans and finished the week out with a Roman Feast. The kids had fun and enjoyed making dad dress up with them. I think we used all the sheets, table clothes and belts in the house. :)

I'm pretty sure the Roman Empire failed in part because they ate lying down. We had so much fun, but lying down wasn't my favorite way to eat food. Luckily we had plenty of couch cushions, gymnastics mats and pillows to make everyone a couch to lounge on.

My Favorite Organizer

She LOVES to organize cabinets and closets.
I'm so thankful for her each and every day!

Tea Time

The girls and I were able to attend a special tea party this past week out at the Woodlands. The girls loved dressing up and wearing hats and they had a great time serving tea and cake to all our beautiful friends at Woodlands. I'm so glad that our homeschooling schedule allows us time to volunteer and get involved in the lives of others.

Winter Vegetables

Food is always a topic of conversation at our house. My children ask me for food about every 15 minutes.

In the middle of winter I'm always thankful for our summer CSA share. Today I went through both of my freezers, organized all my freezer meals, frozen vegetables and meat to see what I had in stock. I've got quite a few things left in both of my freezers and wrote up a paper, listing which veggies I still have left and put circles next to the name to mark the amount. I'm hoping this will help me to remember what's in the freezer and motivate me to use it up before next summer.

I'm always amazed at how long our CSA vegetable last! Just last week we used up our final two spaghetti squash and we still have two ice cream pails of potatoes. I did have to go buy green beans at the store the other day since the farm didn't have a very good crop of them this summer and we ate all the ones we grew in our garden. While digging through the freezer and getting everything organized I did find 7 bags of flat beans and snap peas I didn't know I had. Score!

Now I just need to talk myself in to meal planning.

A Quick Trip South

Shawn has been watching Craig's list, the local used car dealerships, and the newspaper for the perfect "new" to use vehicle. When he found the perfect Expedition in Lincoln, NE we headed down south for a quick trip to pick up our vehicle. This trip also gave us a chance to meet up with 2 of my uncles, a cousin and my parents for the weekend. We tried to squeeze in as much fun as we could.

The weather was pretty windy one of the days, so we ended up at an indoor play place. The kids had a blast in the foam ball pit, trampoline bubble, lazer room and on the inflatables.

My cousin Niki will be 30 years old this summer. Where does the time go?

The next day was beautiful so we stopped by Holmes lake, drove by my grandma's old house, played at the park and walked along the dam that I used to hike and sled as a kid.

My mom

It was a quick trip and I made me realize how lucky we are to be able to normally spend weeks at a time with our parents! The best part was definitely seeing my family.

We were also able to pay cash for our new vehicle which was an amazing feeling. I love having NO car payments! Shawn has been grinning ear to ear ever since we got home and is plotting about how to get a bigger trailer to haul more decoys.
